Fernando and Gilda Cafua immigrated from the island of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, to Boston, Massachusetts in hopes of achieving a better life for themselves and their future family. As hard-working immigrants, Gilda created firemen suits as a seamstress, and Fernando juggled three jobs to make ends meet, including one as a baker for Dunkin’ Donuts. They also had three sons: Mark, David, and Gregory.
While both Gilda and Fernando worked multiple jobs -one as a baker- The Cafua Family had the opportunity to invest in their first store, located in Derry, NH.
At young ages, Mark, David and Gregory (second generation) began working at Dunkin’ Donuts. They remember growing up in the business fondly and are proud to have worked in every position possible over the years, even standing on milk crates at an early age so they could take orders from behind the counter.
Cafua Management Company grew over the years and hit their 100th store grand opening in upstate New York.
Fernando and Gilda moved to Florida and left CMC in the capable hands of their three sons. Mark serves as CEO, David as Chief Property Officer, and Gregory as Chief Business Officer. Each took on roles that suit their strengths and continue to build upon their parents’ legacy.
Following in the family footsteps, Felicia, Joshua, and Jonathan began their Dunkin’ careers as crew members. While growing up in the company, they focused on creating a “people first” culture within their restaurants as shift leaders, trainers, and managers. Now, the third generation of the Cafua family each has their respective leadership roles within Cafua Management.
